Designing Compact Apartments With Calm and Clarity

Urban living often requires making the most of compact footprints. However, a small apartment does not need to feel crowded. With careful planning and layout restraint, compact spaces can feel open, calm, and functional.

Concealed Elements

Use sliding doors instead of swing doors to save precious floor area. Custom wardrobes can incorporate integrated fold-down desks or hidden TV panels, keeping visual clutter to a minimum when not in use.

A Cohesive Palette

Using a single consistent flooring material throughout the entire apartment creates visual continuity. Pair this with soft, neutral wall tones like warm alabaster or beige to allow light to bounce freely, visually expanding the rooms.

Scale of Furniture

Avoid oversized, heavy furniture pieces. Opt for low-profile furniture raised on slender legs. Seeing more of the floor beneath a sofa or sideboard tricks the eye into perceiving more space.

Every space begins with a conversation.
